Leviathan is a book by Thomas Hobbes about how humans are inherently evil and left to themselves would create chaos, and therefore need a central government, preferably an enlightened despot, to keep their shit together.
I’m not entirely sure how that translates into giant semi-transparent balloon that you can walk around in. Luckily sense-making and my overabundant glee with the work of Anish Kapoor aren’t codependent.

This piece was created for Monumenta 2011, which is basically the French Ministry of Culture challenging an artist to “respond” to the seriously incredible architecture of the Grand Palais.

All Time Favorite. This is definitely one of maybe five rooms that has served as inspiration to me for years and I will never ever get tired of looking at. It pushes me to take risks with things that are less practical—a patterned couch, a neon lamp. It’s also the only “gallery” style wall I’m drawn to and appreciate every single piece in.

There are a few walls in my neighborhood that are always being graced with new murals by street artists. The level of detail and precision always blows my mind. I can barely use a spray can without making drips let alone manipulate it into something beautiful and original. This piece is by French artists Supakitch and Koralie.
I’ve had the damn good luck to catch a few of them in action, but this is just beyond what I could imagine composing. Dedication doesn’t begin to describe it.
Crayon sculptures by Diem Chau.

Carhenge is a replica of England’s Stonehenge located near Alliance, Nebraska on the High Plains. Instead of being built with large standing stones, it’s formed from vintage American automobiles, covered with gray spray paint. Built by Jim Reinders, it was dedicated at the June 1987 summer solstice. (Wiki)

Alright maybe installations are my favorite art medium.

Really simple, beautiful mini-doc on the collaboration of a fashion designer (Esther Perbandt) and a mixed media artist (Marco Pho Grassi) to create an almost grunge, minimalist clothing collection that lands somewhere between Rauschenberg and Pollack.
